Around 80,000 labor unionists marched through the Belgian capital Brussels on Monday to protest the high cost of living and the lack of a sufficient increase in wages—money is being poured into big military budgets when it is urgently needed for salaries to make ends meet for low-income families.
At the urging of the largest labor unions in the country, the protesters met in front of the Brussels- North railway station. A giant screen set up in front of the station displayed the words “Life is too expensive, we want higher wages.” People also carried banners reading “Increase salaries,” “Money for hospitals and schools,” “Release our salaries,” and “Stop wage robbery.” In the city where NATO is headquartered, the protestors chanted “STOP NATO,” and “Spend money on salaries, not on weapons,” RT reported.
