The Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Saturday in a Telegram post that the G7 nations – once considered the world’s leading economies, are continuing “to crack under the weight of sanctions imposed against Russia.” As a result, other nations which will have nothing to do with the sanctions against Russia – the vast majority of the world’s nations – are now reaching the point of surpassing the economic output and power of the G7 nations.
Volodin chooses a group of eight countries (he could have chosen others which fit the same pattern) which oppose the sanctions and whose combined GDP (measured in purchasing power parity – PPP) is 24.4% larger than that of the G7 nations. He names Russia, China, India, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, Iran, and Turkey.
