In the wake of the recent Supreme Court’s overturning of the Row v. Wade case affecting legality of abortions, comments are flying fast and loose, stoked by the media for maximum diversion, pessimism, and fixation, but one stands out from Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill), who is Senior Chief Deputy Whip in the House Democratic leadership.
She said in a June 27 radio interview, in effect, that fewer mouths to feed around the world will help relieve the hunger and food crisis! The interviewer asked her, “Why should U.S. funding for reproductive rights in other countries, including abortions, be a priority for the United States?” Rep. Schakowsky answered, “Because we are now seeing so many displaced people around the world. We are seeing an increase of hunger around the world. We are seeing people suffering….”
