What will be tomorrow’s current history?
As things seem to stand at the moment, “tomorrow’s news” for the northern hemisphere, particularly the United States, Canada and Europe, has just been previewed in Australia, and is reported in the London Daily Mail. “Outrage as Australia’s energy crisis worsens with hospitals ordered to reduce electricity use and millions warned not to use appliances at night: ‘We’re rationing power like a 3rd world country.’” The Mail continues: “Australia’s energy crisis has deepened, with the National Electricity Market suspended, hospitals ordered to reduce electricity use and millions of people urged not to use basic appliances, despite the freezing winter weather…. The Tomago aluminum smelter in N.S.W. (New South Wales), the country’s biggest electricity user, was also forced to cut production to reduce the chance of a blackout.”
In contrast, tomorrow’s news can become: “We are calling for a New Bretton Woods, a committee to organize such a system, which must take immediate emergency measures to completely reorganize this bankrupt, trans-Atlantic neoliberal system.” The good news is that, in the last several days, meetings discussing the general welfare of all nations, and presaging the coming end of the imperial rule of billions by a despotic financial oligarchy, have occurred, and are occurring. President Xi Jinping in Hong Kong and President Vladimir Putin, at both the St, Petersburg Legal Forum and the earlier St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, have been part of that discussion. Others, not heads of state, or elected officials, but volunteers for sanity, such as the signers of the June 30 German call for a cease-fire in Ukraine, are increasingly in evidence. There have even been individual sightings of members of the United States Congress saying things like “The American people do not want war with Russia, but NATO and our own foolish leaders are dragging us into one. We should pull out of NATO.”
Which of these paths shall chart our new current history? The Anglosphere—"Global Britain,” including its associate member, the United States—by the sheer, self-delusional force of the Nietzschean will to power, continues to deny and abjure, not only the successfully-developed productive powers of China’s Belt and Road Initiative; not only Russia’s two-decade recovery from the Wall Street/City of London “shock therapy,” steered by Vladimir Putin; it denies its own galloping, near-terminal industrial decay, as Australia reveals, brought on by a 50-year toleration of no-growth “environmentalist” policies that are, not “green,” but the gangrenous foundation of the financial “Great Reset.” Americans, beware the British disease: Whom the gods would destroy, they first give knighthoods.
The madness of, not only England’s King George III, but of the British Empire, as one contemporary noted in the 18th century, was that it failed to recognize that “A great empire and little minds go ill together.” One only need refer to the names of Sullivan, Pompeo, Cheney, Obama, Bush, or a score of others, and virtually any of their statements on foreign or domestic policy, to note the veracity of that observation. Where is the “Ask not what your country can do for you,” “I’ve been to the mountaintop,” “We choose to go to the Moon,” “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” speech, and therefore mission, of America’s last 25 years? Can any country that aspires to achieving or maintaining greatness long survive the banality and lack of imagination shown by this generation of leadership and its level of “res publica"—"public things”—that is, its banal public discourse?
The New Bretton Woods initiative, to which we now seek to recruit an international faction, is specifically targeting the United States. It is from the United States that the world needs to see progress toward sanity. It was, after all, the United States which was once the most advanced practitioner of the science of physical economy, first advanced by Germany’s 26-year-old Gottfried Leibniz. This was the same Leibniz that collaborated with Russia’s Peter the Great, sought to collaborate with the nation of China, and inspired the scientific work of Ben Franklin, the central organizer and international coordinator of the American Revolution. Later, Alexander Hamilton’s American System of Economy, and its advancement through economists Mathew Carey, Friedrich List, Henry Carey, and Abraham Lincoln’s Second American Revolution, inspired the ancestors of what we see in Russia and China today. It did not, however, inspire what we see from the City of London and Wall Street, who were the forces that assassinated Lincoln, and that suppressed American knowledge of the American System. Franklin Roosevelt’s resurrection of the American System, as a direct descendant of the Isaac Roosevelt who worked closely with Hamilton, advocated, as if instinctively, the destruction of the British, French, Dutch and Portuguese empires. And though FDR’s ideas were not implemented through the Bretton Woods of 1944, we are here to do that now.
The science of physical economy’s highest expression, however, has been achieved by Lyndon LaRouche (1922-2019). That work established LaRouche as “a very profound thinker of our time,” as Russian economist Sergey Glazyev wrote on June 27. “He [LaRouche] called for the creation of a new financial system as serving the needs of expanded reproduction of the real economy.” [https://t.me/glazieview/1962] It was only through the work of Lyndon LaRouche that the core of Leibniz’s actual scientific outlook on physical economy has been made intelligible and therefore generally available. Human creative discovery; the design of unique experiments for verification of the truth of scientific principles; and the mass application of scientific discovery to production, through the “machine tool principle,'’ is now not only Leibniz’s and LaRouche’s domain. It has been made available through generations of LaRouche’s collaborators, particularly the youth that worked directly with LaRouche to become the domain of all people, particularly those in Africa, Asia, South America, and in what is now known generally as “the developing sector.” This is the true province of the New Bretton Woods.
It is only fitting that LaRouche’s closest collaborator, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, be the person to remind America of not only the tradition of Nicholas of Cusa, Gottfried Leibniz, Friedrich Schiller, Friedrich List, and their respective roles in inspiring, supporting and advancing the American Revolution. She also, by means of the Call for an Ad-Hoc Committee for a New Bretton Woods System, calls forth the memory of the unfinished anti-colonial mission of Franklin Delano Roosevelt at the end of World War II—the very mission which inspired her husband, Lyndon LaRouche, and to which he gave “the last full measure of his devotion.” We hereby declare that the current history of the planet must become the history which Lyndon LaRouche, and his generation of patriots and world citizens, fought, in the name of humanity and the principle of discovery, to give to the world.
