Scholz Announces an Energy Safety Net You Would Not Jump In

The German government is stubbornly running into an energy crisis with only two weapons, debt and rationing. Those “weapons” will kill the one who uses them.

Speaking to ZDF television, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the government will intervene with financial aid to firms and households, but “we cannot drive all prices down with subsidies” he said, adding that the government cannot stop energy prices on the world market (why going on the world market, Mr. Scholz, when there is something called bilateral treaty agreements?). Scholz said that the government will find the money and at the same time won’t go into over- indebtedness.
