In addition to U.K. energy prices being uncapped (see separate slug), other European countries are looking at an energy disaster. Germany’s year-ahead electricity prices soared to €995/MWh on Aug. 26 and France’s to €1,130. One year ago it was around €100 each, but just yesterday it was at €700.

France is especially affected because of maintenance on their existing nuclear reactors which is taking longer than expected. France also has a price cap for consumers which expires at the end of the year.
