The leftist, antifascist organization “Peace with Russia” has endorsed the Aug. 28 Dessau rally of “Craftsmen for Peace,” calling on citizens nationally to join the protest, with a statement including the following:
“Instead of respecting the interests of other states … the West tries to proselytize them with its own values. In this crusade of values, wars were waged against Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen and Libya, regime changes were supported or pursued, and sanctions were imposed in order to impose its own worldview on other societies.
“As in these examples, however, Ukraine is not about solidarity and values. It is about interests. But these are not the interests of ordinary people. All the people of the world want to live a decent life. We don’t want to starve, we don’t want to freeze in winter and we don’t want to sink into poverty. Need, misery and despair are good for nothing. That is why we fight as little people for our interests. Let us demand:
“• Stop the sanctions, because they harm us ourselves!
“• Commissioning of Nord Stream 2, so that we have enough gas for the Winter!
“• Prices down!”
