Swiss Federal Electricity Commission chairman Werner Luginbühl has raised the possibility of Switzerland having electricity cutoffs this winter, to deal with increasing energy shortfalls sweeping Europe in the wake of sanctions against Russia. Luginbühl provides the assurance: “Such a situation would be manageable.” Yet he adds the caution: “It is certainly advisable to have enough candles in the house. And if you have a wood stove, you should stock enough firewood.”
