While Switzerland’s official position is that it condemns Russia’s war against Ukraine in the strongest possible terms, Federal Councilor Ueli Maurer, who is presently the Finance Minister, spoke his mind. Speaking before an event of the Swiss People’s Party in Ausserrhoden, he explained first that the war in Ukraine was actually a “proxy war” between NATO and Russia.
