President Biden channeled a bit of Alfred E. Neuman’s “What, Me Worry?” yesterday, after an anticipated Bureau of Labor Statistics report on inflation was worse than expected. The bad news caused somewhat of a run on Wall Street, with the Dow down 1,276 points. When asked whether he was worried about inflation, Biden was clear: “I’m not, because we’re talking about one-tenth of 1%. The stock market doesn’t necessarily reflect the state of the economy, as you well know. The economy is still strong. Unemployment is low. Jobs are up. Manufacturing is good. I think we’re going to be fine.”
