It sounds like a “man bites dog” story, but it is refreshing for a Western government official to look at reality and then state the obvious. As reported by newspapers of the Funke Media group, Veronika Grimm, a member of the German government’s chief economic advisory council, stated: “In view of the price development on the electricity market, everything must be done to mobilize generation capacities that can be made available at short notice.”
The megawatt/hour electricity increased to a price above 1,000 euros at the end of August, at EEX, the speculative power exchange in Leipzig.
