After an intense legal fight, the PSPU was banned today from any longer operating in Ukraine. The hearing apparently lasted much longer than other, similar cases, stretching seven hours. Among other things, the PSPU’s accusation that Roman Shukhevych and Stepan Bandera were Nazi collaborators was highlighted as a point of contention in media coverage of Tuesday’s hearing. The court ruling today makes the PSPU the fourth party to be banned in Ukraine since the Russian SMO.
In an open statement issued before the hearing, the PSPU wrote: “If the Supreme Court does not overturn the ruling of the 8th Administrative Appeals Court of Lviv, dated 23 June 2022, on banning the PSPU, we believe that will mark the end of democracy in Ukraine.”
