Helga Zepp-LaRouche was a featured guest on the first segment of CRI’s World Today on “What’s Behind Mass Protests Across Europe?” She condemned the neoliberal policies of the West which are destroying their own populations while also bringing the world dangerously close to world war. After speaking about the growth of the protests, from the Netherlands to Germany and now beyond, Zepp-LaRouche identified the anti-farming policies in combination with the rise in fuel and fertilizer prices: “There will be no more food!”

When asked about the actions being taken by European leaders, Zepp-LaRouche simply remarked that “they are not competent. They listened to advisors, and these advisors told them … that inflation will be only temporary…. Now that is completely incompetent, and it’s very important that the top economist of Russia, Sergei Glazyev, just wrote in a birthday message for my late husband, who had his 100th birthday, Lyndon LaRouche, that he, LaRouche, prognosed the collapse of the neoliberal system more than 3-4 decades ago, and that all this pain could have been avoided if people had listened to it.”

Further on the EU’s policies: “All they are now saying to the population is that they should reduce consumption, they should not take showers anymore…. This is absurd! If they want to deal with the situation, they should shut down the Amsterdam energy trading exchange where alone in the last months €1.5 trillion had to be generated to cover margin calls. This is untenable. You shut down the Amsterdam exchange and replace that with long-term deals like with Russian gas and oil, and the inflation would disappear immediately. But they are not willing to do that, they are trying to impose now austerity on the population and this will only lead to more social explosion.”

The host asked Zepp-LaRouche about the Ukrainian counter-offensive over the weekend and the response to this in Europe. She responded by saying that the process exemplified by the latest Rammstein meeting, promising more weapons and support for Ukraine, is extremely dangerous. “I think that brings us really one step closer to world war. And there is in Russia, in the public media, a big debate about that. I think people have to wake up. This present policy of confrontation against Russia, and, by implication, against China as well, is bringing the world very close to a possible world war” she said.
