An opinion piece in Newsweek by two former diplomats, David Rundell and Michael Gfoeller, entitled “Nearly 90% of the World Isn’t Following Us on Ukraine,” expresses great concern about how the majority of the world is not on board the U.S. policy regarding Ukraine and Russia. Many countries that were allied with us or were non-aligned are moving in the direction of groups like BRICS or SCO. In terms of energy, while our European allies for the most part are adhering to restrictions on Russian oil and gas, Saudi Arabia is buying Russian oil for their own consumption in order to sell more of their oil on the export market. China is selling LNG that is produced in Siberia and importing Russian oil which it refines and sells on the open market.
