“We Must Assassinate AOC for America” was a headline for a brief part of today in the online version of the New York Post – until the Post discovered that they had been hacked and then took down that and other crude provocations. In the twelve days before the 2022 Federal elections, such a provocation is designed to generate a reaction and energize a backlash vote.
And they were rather provocative. A racist taunt had the Republican candidate for governor in New York call NYC Mayor Eric Adams a “fried chicken eating monkey"; an op-ed was headlined, “We must murder Joe and Hunter Biden"; and another headline had Texas Governor Greg Abbott saying that he would “order Border Patrol to start slaughtering illegals.” And those weren’t the worst.
