The entire 19 nations of the Eurozone now have double-digit inflation, with consumer prices rising a record 10% in September, compared to a year earlier. In August the yearly rate was 9.1%, EU statistics agency Eurostat reported Friday, Sept. 30. A year ago, inflation was as low as 3.4%. Energy prices led the way, with a 40.8% year-on-year increase in September. Food, alcohol and tobacco jumped 11.8%. Prices in Germany rose 10.9%, hitting double digits for the first time in decades.
