After a weekend that likely saw over 100,000 protesting the skyrocketing costs of living across the country, France continues to buckle. Thousands more came out for protests across the country on Oct. 18, and were met with a brutal response from police. Many videos of aggressive behavior can be found on Twitter, with many commenting how these make the Iranian protests look tame.
Add to this the nationally coordinated strikes being conducted, involving transportation workers, teachers, hospital workers, and others. One poll found that one in three French citizens was prepared to strike or protest in the coming weeks.
