A motorcade of several hundred vehicles, driven by small business and and Mittelstand entrepreneurs, was staged in Thuringia yesterday, with the action extending over 10 kilometers between the cities of Saalfeld and Rudolstadt. They criticized politics: “It can’t go on like this,” with rising prices, including for fuel, as the main reason for many to join the motorcade. From bakers to scaffolders, roofers, painters, and gardeners, there was a colorful mix from almost all areas of the trades.
This Thursday, the “Entrepreneurs Revolt Initiative” of MV (Mecklenburg-PrePom) will stage car rallies in eight cities of the state of Mecklenburg under the slogan, “Without Us, Everything stands still!” The protest is meant to send a message to politicians to “STOP.” The eight cities are Neubrandenburg, Greifswald, Stralsund, Rostock, Güstrow, Parchim, Wismar, and Schwerin (the state’s capital).
On Saturday, a predominantly leftist alliance of groups plans to stage a rally of several thousand in Leipzig.
On Sunday, entrepreneurs and citizens from several parts of Saxony will stage a mass rally in Grimma (near Leipzig).
To be added: the “Craftsmen for Peace” have an updated petition circulating online, calling for the use of the undamaged pipe of Nord Stream 2, the instant repair of the damaged parts, an end to sanctions and arms deliveries to Ukraine, and for a return to mutual cooperation between Germany and Russia. The first petition issued at the end of August gathered more than 10,000 signatures.
