The popular Greek news website Pronews.gr covered the LaRouche Youth Movment’s intervention against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with the dramatic video clips of Jose Vega and Kynan Thistlethwaite’s powerful intervention. The intervention was featured in an article reporting the open letter to President Joe Biden by the Democratic Progressive Caucus. Depicting it as a major breakthrough in the opposition to the war, with quotes particularly on the danger of nuclear war, the news site points out that Ocasio-Cortez signed the letter following the intervention (although they do not name Jose or Kynan, or identify their affiliation). They include a video report from Pronews’ own Web TV channel with the relevant video clip. They write:
“Democratic voters are furious with the Biden administration. Too many American citizens have understood that it is leading their country and the entire planet into direct nuclear conflict with Russia and China. “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was ‘marketed’ by the Democrats in the 2020 election as ‘the next best thing’ for the next decades in politics, so the ‘crack’ she received has special significance as the Democratic voters had believed her.
“The reactions in American society are not only for reasons of inflation and the economy, these are the least evil in the face of the possibility of a nuclear disaster from which it will not escape and above all it will not escape at all. As the now former voters of ‘Congresswoman’ characteristically mention, all this will have no meaning if there is a nuclear war. They even specifically mention the former Democratic politician Tulsi Gabbard who left the party denouncing them as ‘war hawks’. They called Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a coward who previously said she was against the war in Ukraine and now votes for global escalation.”
They then quote Jose directly: “You voted to send arms and ammunition to Ukraine. Tulsi Gabbard left the Democratic party because she realized it was a party of warmongers. You initially didn’t want us to go to war, but you ended up voting to start the war in Ukraine. You voted to start World War III with Russia and China. Why are you playing with the lives of American citizens? Why are you playing with our lives?'
