The much-touted ordeal has finally been secured as of Oct. 27, when Elon Musk officially purchased Twitter for $44 billion. What Musk will do with the social media platform remains to be seen, but the freakouts from various parts of the “thought police” are numerous.

Musk’s first move yesterday was to fire four of the company’s top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal and legal chief Vijaya Gadde. Gadde is widely touted as the person who oversaw the banning of individuals from the platform, including most notably President Trump in January 2021, and it is widely expected Musk will let the former U.S. President back in.

In a message to Twitter advertisers sent out Oct. 27, Musk said of his intent moving forward: “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence. There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.” During this process, “the opportunity for dialogue is lost,” Musk said.
