Undoubtedly reflecting the new alliances taking shape in a turbulent world situation, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman met online yesterday with China’s National Energy Administrator Zhang Jianhua, and then traveled to New Delhi to meet with his Indian counterpart Power Minister Raj Kumar Singh, among other top Indian officials.
In the online meeting with China’s Zhang Jianhua, the two agreed to bolster their bilateral relationship in the energy field “to address emerging risks and challenges,” according to their joint statement they released, reported Riyadh’s Energy Ministry. Discussion of bilateral cooperation also included joint investment along Belt and Road countries, emphasizing that “the Kingdom continues to be China’s most reliable partner and supplier of crude oil.” Also discussed was the need to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector supply chain by establishing a regional hub for Chinese manufacturers to use the Kingdom’s favorable location amid three continents.
