Saxon City Denounces Greens for Slandering Its Protest Rally

An impressive 2,700 citizens, a significant number of them shopowners and craftsmen, took to the streets of the Saxon city of Annaberg-Buchholz (pop. 22,000) on Sept. 27 to protest against the repercussions of the EU sanctions against Russia and to demand government action against the acute crisis. In line with the German government’s narrative-control policy, Green critics of the rally claimed it had been taken over by right-wingers—that has been instantly denounced as a lie by organizers of the rally, and the mayor of the city, who had addressed the rally on the city’s market square, is even considering legal action.

Annaberg, moreover, received backing from Saxony Minister President Michael Kretschmer (Christian Democrat) who visited the city yesterday, discussing with citizens what their precarious situation is and how they feel left alone with their worries. Kretschmer said the worries of the people are justified, as is their demand—which he fully shares—that political decisions to prevent an otherwise preprogrammed economic and social disaster have to be taken now, not later.
