The Solomon Islands have received much attention this year after they signed a security agreement with China in April, with the U.S. government warning that China is planning to colonize and expand its military there. But in a new Global Times interview with the island nation’s new ambassador to China, H.E John Moffat Fugui, the reality on the ground appears much different.
