Inflation in Italy jumped to 11.9% in October, from 8.9% in September. It is the largest increase since 1984 and even larger than during the first oil crisis. Energy products jumped from +44.5% to +73.2%.
Germany also recorded a two-digit inflation with +10.4%, while France rose to 6.2%. Spain is in countertrend, going from 8.9% in September to 7.3% in October. Both the Spanish and the French governments have implemented measures to contain energy price inflation, which resulted in the lower data in Spain and in the contained increase in France.
