U.S. Youth Spend 10 Hours/Day in Front of Screens, and Get More Depressed

A new study published by the Institute for Family Studies and the Wheatley Institution found that the average 11-18 year-old in the United States is on a screen 70 hours a week, averaging 10 hours per day. Remarkably, this number does not even include time spent watching TV, but only computers, smart phones, and tablets. They make note that this dramatic rise is a trend that was increasingly rapid prior to the Covid lockdowns, with screen time having doubled for high school students from 2009-2017.
