War Party Having Trouble Lining Up “Unified” Back against Russia at UN General Assembly

A vote at the UN General Assembly October 10 on a resolution rejecting the Russian proposal for the UNGA to hold a secret ballot on the West’s anti-Russian resolution, passed, but not overwhelmingly: of the 193 UN member states, the vote was 107 for a public ballot, and 86 refusing to back that motion, whether by voting for a private ballot (13), abstaining (39) or not voting at all (Russia and China among the latter, according to Reuters’s account). Only 55% of all possible voting nations voted yes.

The resolution which the British-EU-America triumvirate brought up pertains to a draft resolution that condemns Russia’s “illegal so-called referenda” and the “attempted illegal annexation.” There is particular concern that African nations will not go along with this show. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba published a “Message to African Nations” on Ukraine’s website, insisting, “Africa’s support is needed now more than ever. African nations [must] stand by international law, territorial integrity, and peace,” etc.
