Though more than a year behind its original schedule set under the Trump Administration, the Artemis Moon-Mars mission has gotten underway with the unmanned flight of the Orion space capsule around the Moon. This is Artemis I of the four planned Artemis flights of which the third intends to land astronauts for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972, and the fourth is intended to make the initial, small start on creating an infrastructure for long-term human activity on the lunar surface.
