China Will Not Commit Itself to Contributing To COP27 'Loss and Damage' Fund

On the basis of its classification as a developing country, China did not commit at COP27 to providing any financing for the proposed $100 billion “loss and damage” fund designed to support developing countries’ recovery from any climate event.

Between the lack of Chinese financial commitment and the change in Congress, the U.S. may also fail to contribute to the fund.
