Lavrov at G20: No Mood To Play Games on Ukraine

At the G20 meeting in Bali, Indonesia, today, the head of Russia’s delegation, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, addressed the media in a no-nonsense, direct fashion. He stated that the conflict in Ukraine is a hybrid war, in which Russia is essentially facing Western nations, which triggered the crisis in the first place.

The effort to contort the final declaration of the G20 meeting into an anti-Russia proclamation on the Ukraine conflict drew Lavrov’s scorn: “They wanted to add wording that would have condemned the actions of Russia on behalf of the entire G20 club, including Russia itself…. Sure, there is a war underway in Ukraine. A hybrid war that was unleashed by the West and which it prepared for many years, starting with the moment it supported the [2014] armed coup and the empowerment of openly racist and neo-Nazi powers” there.
