Russia Explains Missile Attacks on Ukraine's Energy Grid at UN Security Council

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council today, which was immediately granted. There he accused Russia of being a terrorist state. Of some note, Russia’s UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia was allowed to explain Russia’s military campaign. (https://russiaun.ru/en/news/231122_u)

Nebenzia began by stressing that although Ukraine had called the UN Security Council into session, “Mr. Zelenskyy seems to be not taking part in this meeting at all. Apparently, we have just listened to his pre-recorded statement. Whichever UNSC meeting Zelenskyy addressed, he never stayed until the end, and most likely, he never stayed even a second.”

Nebenzia went on: “In the course of our special military operation [SMO], we have to oppose not only the formations of the Kiev regime, but also countries of the North Atlantic Alliance that provide all sorts of military support to Kiev and thus wage a proxy war on Russia. … [W]e launch high-precision strikes against energy and other infrastructure that is used to supply Ukrainian armed formations with weapons, first of all Western.…”
