After Downing Street last week said that Chancellor Rishi Sunak would skip COP27 in Egypt, and Sunak was attacked by Boris Johnson and many other British officials for having done so, he changed his mind and tweeted on Nov. 2, “There is no long-term prosperity without action on climate change. There is no energy security without investing in renewables. That is why I will attend Cop27 next week: to deliver on Glasgow’s legacy…,” etc. The Guardian commented, “The move may open the door for King Charles to attend as well.” And the White House announced last week that President Joe Biden will go to the Egypt climate summit on Nov. 11, no doubt looking for higher approval ratings than he can find in America.
