Taiwan’s People Vote Against Separatist Party in Local Elections

Flash: Early results from Taiwan’s municipal elections today found the opposition Kuomintang (KMT) party winning the elections in four of the six biggest municipalities, including the capital, Taipei, and in many of the smaller cities as well. Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post called it a “landslide” for the KMT.

The elections were being watched as an important indicator of where voters may turn in the presidential elections in a little over a year from now.
