“Washington is obsessed with making the United States the only world power,” Bundestag MP Sahra Wagenknecht (Die Linke) said in a video message on her YouTube channel on Nov. 10. “The stupidity of the American leadership is that it is not interested in partnering with Russia or China, but in their rigid containment. The West must move away from the policy of ‘divide and rule,’” Wagenknecht assessed. She insisted that the anti-Russia sanctions forced on the EU by the United States only made energy in Europe much more expensive and deprived Europe of Russian gas and oil. “It was not Putin who decided it, it was the West that decided it. Economic restrictions are equally directed at Europe. The truth is that European-Russian energy cooperation has been a thorn in the eye of the American leadership since the 1970s,” she concluded.
