The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov explained yesterday that, while he doesn’t know how many Putin body doubles there are, all of them have undergone plastic surgery. Interviewed in London’s Mail, he said: “We know specifically about three people that keep appearing, but how many there are, we don’t know. They all had plastic surgery to look alike.” Budanov added that Ukrainian secret services had detected Putin body doubles standing in for him on a number of “special occasions” in the past, but now this had become the “usual practice” for day-to-day affairs. Of course, this is understandable, given the amount of diseases that Putin is said to be suffering from.
Despite the Mail interview, published Oct. 29, neither an Oct. 27 interview with CNN, nor a lengthy interview with The War Zone published Oct. 28 make any mention of Putin doubles. Yahoo News in Australia yesterday covered the Mail interview, but adding nothing else. Maybe these body doubles were just Halloween costumes?
