Biden Administration Welcomes Africa Summit by Sanctioning Africans

The United States has ushered in the US Africa Summit starting today with a decision that may set the tone for the deliberations—the announcement of new sanctions on four people from Zimbabwe, including the President’s son, and two countries from that nation. “The goal of sanctions is behavior change,” said the Treasury Department press release announcing the new sanctions, intended, supposedly, to help create a “peaceful, prosperous, and politically vibrant Zimbabwe.”
