Netanyahu Expresses Concern over Danger of Nuclear War

Speaking on today’s Meet the Press, Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu warned of the danger of nuclear war. He was badgered by NBC’s Chuck Todd with regard to Ukraine, asking if Israel would provide them with weapons. Netanyahu replied: “the war in Ukraine was a great monumental tragedy, but that it could actually become worse. If you were to have asked me a year ago what were the chances that it will degrade to tactical nuclear weapons, which is sort of a laundered way of saying ‘nuclear weapons,’ I would have told you, zero. Today I would still say that the odds are very low, but they are not zero. And that could be the greatest tragedy of all, because in three-quarters of a century we have not crossed that threshold. We must not cross that threshold. And to the extent that there is anything I can do to help prevent that, or, for that matter, to help end this horror, then I will do so.”
