Pakistan-Afghanistan Policy Meeting in Kabul, Followed by Assassination Attempt on Pak Diplomat

The Pakistan Head of Mission in Kabul is safe after undergoing an attempted assassination attempt Dec. 2, which seriously wounded his bodyguard.

This incident occurred just days after representatives of the Pakistan and Afghanistan governments conferred in Kabul. Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Minister Hina Rabbini Khar met personally Nov. 29 in Kabul with Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. This is the first such high level meeting since Shehbaz Sharif became Prime Minister in April.

Many things were discussed, including accelerating trade, and facilities for travellers between the two countries.
