On Saturday, Matt Taibbi published another thread on the Twitter Files, focusing on the close collaboration of intelligence / law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, CIA, and DHS with Twitter and other internet platforms.

The FBI has responded to the reporting so far with a statement that “the men and women of the FBI work every day to protect the American public... It is unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation with the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency.”

Of course, the goals of those reporting on the Twitter Files extends beyond the FBI itself, and that Bureau would be hard pressed to say what of the reporting is actually “misinformation.”

The latest revelations give direct involvement of not only the FBI, but also the CIA in the briefings / demands delivered to Twitter. These would sometimes take the form of Excel files of tweets and Twitter handles that the FBI considered to be in violation of the Twitter terms of service, which they are oh-so-helpfully just providing to Twitter.
