The United States has given Ukraine approval to use U.S. weapons against Crimea. Under the myth that Crimea is still part of Ukraine (what does a democratic election mean if it doesn’t go your way, one must ask?), a Pentagon spokesman told the press: “We can’t tell them what to do. It’s up to them how they use their weapons.” He added that Washington only demands that Kiev conform to international law and the Geneva Conventions when using U.S.-supplied weapons. According to a U.S. defense source, the Pentagon is now “not saying to Kiev, ‘Don’t strike the Russians’ in Russia or Crimea.”
RT’s report includes the fact that the Ukraine bombing of two Russian bases deep within Russia on Dec. 5, which Russia says was done with Soviet-made drones, drew a response from Blinken that Washington had “neither encouraged nor enabled the Ukrainians to strike inside of Russia.” Against this backdrop, Pentagon officials are now reportedly “seriously” considering Ukraine’s requests for long-range weapons that could be used for strikes deep inside Russia. “Nothing is off the table,” a senior U.S. defense official told the British daily, The Times.
