Austrian Foreign Minister Says Russia Must Be Part of European Security

Speaking at a French university on Monday, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg had some fierce criticism of the war insanity gripping Western countries. According to EuroWeekly News, the diplomat said European security architecture will have to include Russia in one way or another in the future, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and as a nuclear power.

Commenting on the proposal to ban visas for all Russians, Schallenberg said, “We must not overshoot the mark.” “We also have to think about the day after, the week after, and the months after,” he added. Schallenberg also criticized Poland’s decision last year to not invite Russia to the OSCE meeting held there. He made clear that he condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but he insisted that the OSCE meeting is one of the few avenues of dialogue remaining with Russia and is therefore vital.
