The Global South and The Coming World Order

The Global South is increasingly choosing its own path, not necessarily the path proposed by Washington. The reshaping of the global future is apparently unnoticed or willfully disregarded by Anglo-American elites, that seem to think that by crushing Russia and China, they can maintain supremacy.

Consider the case of the Jan. 19 announcement by South Africa that it would hold military drills with Russia and China. The White House press secretary responded, “The United States has concerns about any country ... exercising with Russia as Russia wages a brutal war against Ukraine.”

South Africa Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor pointed to the obvious double standard coming from the White House, which seems to say, “what I do is OK for me, but you cannot do it because you are a developing country.”

“All countries conduct military exercises with friends worldwide,” she said in a press conference with visiting Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Russia. “It’s the natural course of relations.”
