European People’s Party head Manfred Weber canceled an EPP meeting scheduled for June in Naples yesterday, because of Silvio Berlusconi’s recent statements on Ukraine. Berlusconi’s Forza Italia is a part of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
Berlusconi reacted forcefully by warning against the danger of nuclear war and demanding a special EPP session to discuss it. “With the world on the verge of a nuclear war between Russia and the NATO countries, I am being criticized because I am asking that together with the support for Ukraine, which has always been shared and voted for by Forza Italia, a table be opened immediately to reach the peace,” he wrote on social media.
