Hersh on CGTN: NATO Expansion Provoked War; Nord Stream Blown to Keep Germany in War

In a brief excerpt from an interview conducted with Seymour Hersh, CGTN reports today that Hersh said the Nord Stream pipeline was blown up to take away the option for Germany to exit the Ukraine war, and that Hersh also challenged those who say that Russia’s actions were unprovoked. In his bombshell report of Feb. 8, posted on Substack, Hersh said that his sources had told him that a small group around Biden—including Blinken, Sullivan, and Nuland—had drawn up the plans to blow up the Nord Stream pipeline even before Russia initiated its Special Military Operation in Ukraine.

In the CGTN post, Hersh said this decision was based in part on the Biden team’s view that the Nord Stream gas “was a weapon for the Russians.” Hersh then asserted that if Germany could not open up the pipeline, then their “European allies in NATO” would keep “subordinating” Germany in the war. “And they won’t have the option to say: ‘We quit, we’d rather have Russian gas than join you in a war you can’t win.’ And that’s what the dominant thinking was,” Hersh said.
