Kiev Announces Replay of 2014 ‘Azov Brigade’ Operations

Kiev announced today a replay of the nasty and desperate measures of 2014, when they recruited neo-Nazi militia formations to lead the charge at the front lines of the Donbass. Ihor Klymenko, the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, announced that his ministry is fashioning, outside of Ukraine’s regular military, eight assault brigades of “highly motivated” patriotic fighters who “seek to exterminate the enemy and liberate the occupied lands of Ukraine.” As reported in Ukrainska Pravda, they are to be called the “Offensive Guard,” and Klymenko specified that his invitation was directed in particular to “volunteers to Burevii (Hurricane), Chervona Kalyna, Kara Dag, Rubizh (Frontier), Spartan and the legendary Azov.”

Klymenko explained: “No rear-guard tasks. Only high-quality training, constant drills and participation in contact-line operations. The formation of units is already underway. The new brigades are made up of military and police personnel who have significant combat experience and have performed heroically on the contact lines. These are our real heroes. We are manning the brigades exclusively with volunteers and highly motivated patriots of Ukraine.”
