Larry Summers Says Russian Funds Should Be Stolen Outright

Speaking to Fareed Zakaria GPS Sunday, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers said that the economic sanctions on Russia have failed, because countries like China, India and Turkey, haven’t participated. He said the West should just seize Russia’s financial assets outright, and they should then be used to “rebuild Ukraine” – ie to repay Ukraine’s debt to the weapons producing companies whose materiel they have been receiving. This, Summers stated, could set a “healthy precedent” for other countries engaged in “cross-border aggression.”
