Republican Reactions to Biden’s Trip to Ukraine Go Beyond Partisanship

The main talking point against President Biden’s trip to Kiev on President’s Day, as voiced by Republicans opposed to the ‘permanent war’ over Ukraine, centered on his ignoring American concerns – by not going to East Palestine, Ohio, to deal with the nasty situation created by the train derailment. However, some comments went beyond scoring partisan points.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took up the problem of generalized warfare with Russia and China: “Biden didn’t go to East Palestine, Ohio on President’s Day. He went to Ukraine, a NON-NATO nation, whose leader is an actor and is apparently now commanding our United States military to world war.” She explained that Washington’s actions have been “like a US proxy war with Russia” that is “now becoming more like a US-China war through the Ukraine-Russia war.” Greene insisted that Biden must be impeached “before it’s too late.”

Rep. Paul Gosar tweeted: “Joe Biden visiting Ukraine is a slap in the face to every American, especially the people of East Palestine, Ohio.” He added a daring proposition:
