Afghanistan Neighbors Increase Diplomacy, Despite Formal Non-Recognition

The nations of Iran and Turkiye in February turned over the Afghanistan embassies in their capitals to the Kabul government, despite not officially recognizing the Taliban rulers. Russia, China, and Pakistan maintain close and regular relations with Kabul. They have kept their embassies open and operating in Kabul all along, since the NATO-U.S. departure in August 2021.
