ASEAN Countries Arrange Trade in Local Currencies

All ten ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors met on March 28 in Indonesia to work out a Local Currency Transaction scheme, making their financial transactions in local currencies, and avoiding their previous dependence on the dollar, euro, yen and pound – as reported by aseanbriefing.com. It is described as a further development of their previously agreed arrangement, the Local Currency Settlement.
