President Joe Biden’s initial proposed military budget request for FY2024 is at $886 billion, including $842 billion for the Pentagon and $24 billion for other programs funded under the Defense Authorization. This proposed budget does not include the funding of what are called Overseas Contingency Operations—i.e., wars, occupations and various “anti-terror” deployments by U.S. forces. So a $1 trillion military budget is definitely in sight for FY2024, even if Congress does not authorize more than the White House request as it has in the past two fiscal years.
