Damascus Denounces General Milley’s Trip to Eastern Syria

The Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a statement yesterday condemning Gen. Mark Milley’s visit to U.S. troops in eastern Syria on March 4, calling it a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, reported SANA. “The U.S. chairman of the chiefs of staff made an illegal visit to an illegal U.S. military base in northeast Syria, and claimed that the reason for this visit was to assess the effectiveness of the war against Daesh [ISIS] organization, however, the international community knows very well that Daesh is an illegitimate offspring of U.S. intelligence,” a source in the ministry said.
